There are many reasons to practice qigong. Amongst the most popular reason is anxiety and sensitivities. Many people experience the symptoms of anxiety such as:

  • Panic, fear, and uneasiness
  • Sleep problems
  • Not being able to stay calm and still
  • Cold, sweaty, numb or tingling hands or feet
  • Shortness of breath
  • Heart palpitations
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea

If you know that you are a sensitive or highly sensitive person, truly, awareness is the first step. Once you know you have sensitivities then you can work to build the skill of protecting yourself from your environment. In this video I discuss the concept of Maai, and go through an exercise called Playing with Water. Not surprisingly the exercise is very playful!

If you have enjoyed this video and this style of Qigong, I would invite you to join the Communi Qi. This is an online library of Qigong routines, and videos that you can practice along with in the comfort of your own home. It is great to be able to attend a class in person, but we get the most out of Qigong if we can practice daily. In the Communi Qi we have a wide variety of Qigong practices filmed in different locations, and a warm and welcoming forum where you can connect with like minded people.  We even have a full course on anxiety that you may find interesting. You can read about it here. https://qigongforvitality.vhx.tv/from-a-to-z-anxiety-to-zen
